At a glance
- Leveling (solo): Hunter, Warlock
- Dungeons: Protection Paladin, Holy Priest, Fire Mage
- Raid by role – Tanks: Protection Warrior
- Raid by role – Healing: Holy Priest, Restoration Shaman
- Raid by role – Damage: Fury Warrior, Assassination Rogue, Fire Mage
- PvP: Mage, Rogue, Warlock, Priest
- Beginners: Hunter, Paladin
How this tier list is made
It is based on Blizzard's official class deep dives and development notes, statements from the developers and feedback from the beta (level cap 30). There are no level 60 or raid combat logs yet, so every rating is a reasoned assessment. The order within a tier has no meaning, and C does not mean unplayable.
- S Very strong, safe pick
- A Strong
- B Solid
- C Niche or weaker
Leveling (solo)
How fast and smoothly you get from 1 to 60 solo, with a tip on which talent tree suits it best.

Hunter Tip: Beast Mastery
Your pet holds mobs in place while you deal damage from range. Every Hunter now gets Aimed Shot at level 20, and traps can be placed mid-combat.

Warlock Tip: Affliction
Demons now scale with your stats in WoW Forever. DoTs and Life Tap keep downtime short, and the Voidwalker tanks mobs for you.

Paladin Tip: Retribution
Holy Strike arrives at level 6, and Consecration and Blessing of Kings are now baseline. Sturdy and self-healing, just a little slower than Hunter and Warlock.

Druid Tip: Feral Combat
Cat to level, bear for tough mobs, healing in an emergency. New: potions and weapon enchants work in forms, and form damage now scales with your weapon.

Shaman Tip: Enhancement
Maelstrom Weapon and totems with a one-second global cooldown make Enhancement more pleasant than in Classic. Totems now last five minutes.

Dungeons
Five-player groups while leveling and at level 60: tanks, healers and damage rated together.

Protection Paladin
Seal of Fury adds a taunt and threat via Judgement, and Consecration is baseline. Holds multiple mobs reliably and heals itself on the side.

Protection Warrior
Thunder Clap now works in Defensive Stance, and rage from damage taken ignores armor. A little more work than the Paladin on big pulls.

Feral Combat · Bear Druid
The bear takes a beating and, like the Warrior, gets extra rage from crits. Lacerate doesn't arrive until level 42, though.

Restoration Shaman
Riptide and Water Shield make the Shaman a strong group healer, and the totems help the whole party.

Assassination Rogue
High single-target damage, and Sap no longer breaks Stealth: ideal for clean crowd control.

Destruction Warlock
Incinerate is new, and Curse of the Elements now boosts every school of magic. Plus Soulstones and Healthstones for the group.

Marksmanship Hunter
Solid ranged damage, traps in combat and a pet that grows with your gear. Falls a little behind when lots of AoE is needed.

Retribution Paladin
Holy Strike and Consecration deal decent damage, and blessings and emergency heals make the group safer.

Restoration Druid
Wild Growth as the 31-point talent heals the whole group, plus a combat resurrection. A little more mana-hungry than the Priest.
Raid by role
For the raids opening Dec 9, 2026. There are no raid combat logs yet, so the ratings are based on talents, abilities and beta experience.
Tanks

Protection Warrior
As things stand, the most reliable tank for bosses: dedicated big cooldowns and rage even from absorbed damage.

Protection Paladin
With Seal of Fury and 30% block chance from Holy Shield, it's a full-fledged tank in WoW Forever and very popular in the beta.

Feral Combat · Bear Druid
Lots of armor and health, plus Berserk as a new talent. Good against bosses that deal a lot of physical damage.

Enhancement Shaman
According to Blizzard, Enhancement can tank for short periods, for example during a tank swap. It is not meant as a main tank.
Healing

Restoration Shaman
Chain Heal, Riptide and totems for the group; Windfury makes the Shaman very sought after in melee groups.

Discipline Priest
Penance is new and exciting. How well Discipline keeps up as a raid healer will only show once the raids open.
Damage

Assassination Rogue
Blizzard itself says the Rogue can have the highest single-target melee damage, especially in fights with little movement. Mutilate and Venom strengthen Assassination.

Marksmanship Hunter
Aimed Shot for everyone, its own cooldown for Arcane Shot, and the pet grows with your gear.

Destruction Warlock
Incinerate and Bane of Havoc are new tools, and Curse of the Elements boosts every caster in the raid.

Affliction Warlock
Pandemic and the new Banes make damage over time stronger, good for long boss fights.

Demonology Warlock
Demonic Pact boosts the group's casters; its own damage is slightly below Destruction and Affliction.

Enhancement Shaman
Maelstrom Weapon for you, Windfury for the group: good damage and lots of utility.

Feral Combat · Cat Druid
Berserk and damage that scales with weapon DPS help. Shifting Power isn't playable in the beta yet.

Retribution Paladin
Lots of utility for the group, but Blessing of Might is weaker and damage trails the pure DPS classes.

PvP
Duels, battlegrounds and world PvP. Rated by control, burst, survivability and mobility.

Warlock Tip: Affliction
Fear, damage over time and a demon that fights alongside you and scales with you: very hard to beat.

Paladin Tip: Retribution
Divine Shield no longer slows you down, plus self-healing; with Holy Strike it now hits harder too.

Druid Tip: Restoration
Can escape, heal and shift forms, ideal for carrying flags in battlegrounds.

Hunter Tip: Marksmanship
Lots of ranged damage and traps in combat, and Survival gets new melee options.
Beginners
Which class forgives mistakes and makes the start easy? For everyone playing WoW for the first time or after a long break.

Hunter Tip: Beast Mastery
The pet absorbs mistakes, the rotation is simple and leveling is fast. The most played Alliance class in the beta.

Paladin Tip: Retribution
Sturdy, heals itself and can later tank, heal or deal damage. The most popular Horde class in the beta.

Warlock Tip: Affliction
The pet and DoTs are very forgiving, though soul shards and demons take some managing.

Druid Tip: Feral Combat
Can do everything, but you have to learn several forms and roles at once.

Shaman Tip: Enhancement
Totems are simpler in WoW Forever (totem bar, Totemic Recall), but there are still a lot of buttons.
Changelog
- Oct 14, 2026: First version, based on the level 30 beta, the official class deep dives and feedback from the beta.
Next revision: in the first weeks after launch on Nov 4 (Nov 5, 2026 in Europe) and for the raid launch on Dec 9, 2026.
FAQ
What is the best class in WoW Forever?
There is no single best class; it depends on the role. Based on the beta, Fury Warrior, Assassination Rogue and Fire Mage are among the strongest raid DPS, Hunter and Warlock level the fastest, and the Paladin is seen as the big winner of the beta thanks to new abilities.
Which class levels the fastest in WoW Forever?
Hunter and Warlock. Both have a pet that holds mobs, and they need hardly any downtime. Paladin, Druid and Mage follow.
What is the best tank in WoW Forever?
The Protection Warrior is narrowly ahead thanks to big cooldowns and rage from absorbed damage. Protection Paladin and Bear Druid are full-fledged tanks in WoW Forever, though, and sometimes even more comfortable in dungeons.
What is the best healer in WoW Forever?
Holy Priest and Restoration Shaman are at the top. Holy Paladin and Restoration Druid are strong alternatives, while Discipline still has to prove itself in raids.
Which class is strongest in PvP?
Mage, Rogue, Warlock and Priest, because they control enemies well and survive for a long time. The Warrior is very strong with a healer but easy to outplay alone.
Which class is best for beginners?
Hunter and Paladin: both forgive mistakes, either heal themselves or let the pet tank, and are easy to level. If you're unsure, the class quiz will help you find the right class.
Is the Mage weaker in WoW Forever than in Classic?
Not overall. Fire remains one of the strongest raid specs, while Frost loses a little there because Winter's Chill now only works for the Mage who applied it. Some beta players criticize a simpler rotation and less area damage.
When will the tier list be updated?
After launch on Nov 4 (Nov 5, 2026 in Europe), we'll revise it during the first weeks based on real level 60 experience, and again for the raid launch on Dec 9, 2026. Every change is listed with its date in the changelog.
