Which class suits me?
Eight short questions about role, playstyle, leveling and PvP, then you'll see the three WoW Forever classes that suit you best, with links to talents, leveling guides and BiS lists.
Takes about a minute. There are no wrong answers.
All nine classes at a glance
Warrior- Tank
- Melee
The best tank in the game and, with good gear, one of the strongest melee classes. Slow to level solo with no self-healing, but shines in groups.
Paladin- Healer
- Tank
- Melee
Sturdy, self-healing and easy to play. A strong healer in groups and raids, and in WoW Forever, Protection Paladins get their own tanking seal.
Hunter- Ranged
- Pet
The easiest start: ranged combat with a bow or gun and a pet that keeps enemies busy. Levels very fast solo and is dangerous in PvP. Good Hunters manage their range, pet and traps.
Rogue- Melee
- Stealth
Stealth, stuns and high melee damage. One of the strongest PvP classes and a fast solo leveler, too. Demands good timing with energy and combo points.
Priest- Healer
- Magic
The quintessential healer, wanted in every group and raid. Shadow makes it strong solo and in PvP, too. In WoW Forever, every Priest gets Fear Ward.
Shaman- Healer
- Melee
- Magic
Healing, melee with big weapons or Elemental magic: the Shaman does a bit of everything. Totems buff the whole group but also make the class more demanding. In WoW Forever, the Alliance gets Shamans for the first time (Dwarves).
Mage- Magic
- AoE damage
High ranged damage, AoE spells, teleports and conjured food and water. Strong in PvP thanks to crowd control and very efficient at leveling with AoE. Little armor, so keeping your distance is everything.
Warlock- Magic
- Pet
Demons as pets, damage over time and Fear. One of the best solo leveling classes and very tough in PvP. Lots of abilities and demons to master.
Druid- Tank
- Healer
- Melee
- Magic
Bear, cat, healer or moonkin: the Druid can fill any role and switches forms as needed. Comfortable solo thanks to Travel Form and a strong flag carrier in PvP. Lots to learn, and each role needs its own gear.
Race and faction
All nine classes are available to both Horde and Alliance in WoW Forever. New combinations include Dwarf Shaman, Undead Paladin, Human Hunter and Gnome Priest. The new Skyborne race is paid and plays Druid, Hunter, Rogue and Warrior, plus Shaman on the Horde side and Mage on the Alliance side. All combinations: Races and Classes.
FAQ
Which class is the easiest for beginners?
Hunter and Paladin are generally considered the easiest classes: the Hunter has a pet that keeps enemies busy, and the Paladin is sturdy and can heal itself. The Mage is also easy to learn, but you need a feel for keeping your distance.
Which class levels fastest solo?
Hunters and Warlocks level especially fast solo thanks to their pets, and Mages, Druids and Rogues also level well. Warriors are the slowest solo since they can't heal themselves, but they're in high demand in groups.
Which classes can tank or heal?
Warriors, Druids and Paladins can tank; Protection Paladins get their own seal in WoW Forever. Priests, Paladins, Shamans and Druids can heal.
Can I play every class as Horde and Alliance?
Yes. WoW Forever adds new combinations such as Undead Paladin and Dwarf Shaman, so all nine classes are open to both factions. Which race can play which class is listed on the Races and Classes page.
Can I change my spec later?
You can reset your talents at your class trainer for gold. According to fan sites, WoW Forever adds dual spec at level 40, letting you switch between two talent builds.
How accurate is the result?
The quiz compares your answers with each class's typical strengths in Classic and the announced changes in WoW Forever. It's a guideline, not a verdict: play the class for a few levels before you commit.
