Making Gold in WoW Forever
How to make gold the honest way in WoW Forever: gathering professions and the AH, vendor items, crafting and dungeons. These methods are proven in WoW Classic; anything different in Forever is labeled. No exploits, no buying gold.
The basic rules
- Sell what others need: materials, potions, bags and leveling gear.
- Vendor your grays; check the AH before selling anything else.
- Keep spending low early on: only train the spells you actually use, and save up for riding.
- Groups, mail and guilds only work within your ruleset, so your customers are players on the same ruleset. official
- Whether there will be one Auction House for the whole ruleset or one per faction has not been announced yet. unconfirmed
Gathering professions and the Auction House
- Skinning is the easiest gold while leveling: every beast you kill can drop leather, which leatherworkers buy.
- Mining and Herbalism: you gather ore and herbs as you go. Demand peaks in the first weeks after launch, since everyone is leveling their professions.
- Sell in stacks at normal prices. Heavy undercutting just throws gold away.
- In Forever, healing potions are made by First Aid. Players without Alchemy will therefore also need the herbs for them (Peacebloom, Briarthorn, Bruiseweed, Liferoot, Sungrass, Golden Sansam). unconfirmed
- The Item database shows which materials exist and what they are used for.
New in Forever: rules and prices
- GDKP groups, where loot is auctioned for gold, are not allowed in WoW Forever. The developers said so in a Q&A on Sep 17, 2026. per developers
- Blizzard plans to come down hard on gold buyers. Per the developers, more than 4,000 accounts have already been banned in the beta for real-money trading (as of Oct 9, 2026). per developers
- The beta has a black market in Powderfuse Port (Riverglades). One vendor there sells rare materials at fixed prices, including Black Lotus and Arcane Crystal for 50 gold each. per fan sites
- If the black market launches as is, these materials shouldn't cost much more than the fixed price on the AH. unconfirmed
Waylaid Crates and Merchant's Favor
- You fill Waylaid Crates with materials such as herbs, ore, bars, cloth or parts and turn them in to the profession factions for Merchant's Favor. unconfirmed
- In Season of Discovery, this system kept early materials expensive for a long time. Gathering professions should benefit in Forever too.
- Which crate needs which material: Waylaid Crates and Merchant's Favor.
Mob loot and vendors
- Cloth from loot sells well, especially to tailors and for bandages: Linen Cloth, Wool Cloth, Silk Cloth, Mageweave Cloth, Runecloth.
- Humanoid mobs drop more cloth and coin than beasts, a reliable farm in Classic.
- Campfires turn into small camps with vendors and repairs, so you can sell on the go without running back to town. official
- Rare mobs got hundreds of new drops; check the AH for those too. official
Crafting and selling
- Leveling gear, bags and potions are evergreen sellers in Classic, because new characters keep rolling in.
- Do the math before crafting: if the mats are worth more than the finished item, sell the mats instead.
- Over 600 new recipes; food grants a small XP bonus and stats. official Food could therefore be more in demand while leveling than in Classic. unconfirmed
- Which profession fits you: Best professions. Routes and mats: Profession guide.
Gold guides by profession and level
- Gold with professions: First Aid, Cooking, Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking, Tailoring
- Zones and trade goods by level: Making Gold by Level
Farming dungeons
- Items that aren't bind on pickup often sell for a lot on the AH. Running the same dungeon over and over is a proven method in Classic.
- With Enchanting, you disenchant gear you don't need into sought-after mats.
- Loot in every dungeon has been reworked, with hundreds of new drops. Special boss items are now blue, and set bonuses have been improved. official
- Certain bosses drop blueprints for better campfire objects. official
- Which dungeon fits your level: All dungeons by level.
Fishing and cooking
- Fishing is steady income: every cook needs fish.
- With Cooking, you sell buff food that players use while leveling and in raids.
- Cooking upgrades let you place more objects at a campfire. official
What you need gold for
- In Forever, you get your mount as soon as you learn riding. official
- Riding costs in Forever haven't been published yet. Plan for them early anyway. unconfirmed
- On top of that come new ranks from your class and profession trainers.
Don't buy gold or boosts
- Buying gold, boosts or accounts from third parties violates Blizzard's Terms of Use. It can get your account banned, and purchased gold is often removed again.
- Many of these offers are scams or are meant to steal login details. Never share your Battle.net details, and use the Battle.net Authenticator.
- There's not supposed to be a WoW Token in Forever, so all gold comes from the game itself. per fan sites
- Botting, bugs and exploits also get you banned. Every tip on this page is normal gameplay.
