The basics

What's different from Classic?

WoW Forever starts in classic Azeroth, but Blizzard keeps developing it, with new zones, dungeons and raids instead of the old expansions.

🌍Rulesets instead of realms

There are no individual realms anymore. You pick a ruleset: Normal, PvP, Roleplaying and later Hardcore. Each ruleset is its own world; players on Normal and PvP never meet.

⚔️Level 60, no flying

The level cap stays at 60. There is no flying and no level scaling of zones, so Azeroth stays dangerous and vast.

💎Legacy system

Completing 65 challenges earns you Legacy points that apply to your whole account. Each character can spend up to 16 points across three trees (Professions, Adventure, Resources). So alts are worth it.

🏕️Camping & rest

With the new camp system you rest out in the wild and get the “Boosted Rest” bonus. Ideal for players with little time.

🪶New zones & race

New regions like Mount Hyjal, Shen'dralas, Riverglades and Zephras Isle. Plus the new race Skyborne: on the Horde they are called Windshaper, on the Alliance High Order.

🏰New dungeons & raids

9 new dungeons such as Excavation Site: Wetlands or the City of Dalaran. On Dec 9, Barrow Deeps (10), Hyjal Summit (20) and Onyxia's Lair (40) open. To the dungeon atlas →

🚫No token, no gold buying

There is no WoW Token and no paid boost. Buying gold or knowingly accepting bought gold risks a ban. GDKP raids (loot for gold) are forbidden.

💶What does it cost?

Nothing extra: WoW Forever is included in the regular WoW subscription or game time.

Choosing a class

Which class suits you?

Our take for launch. You can find all talents and abilities in the talent calculator.

ClassRolesSolo levelingPvP / duelsWanted in groupsIn short
WarriorTank, melee★★☆★★★★★★Slow start, but always in demand as a tank. In Forever you gain more rage from critical hits.
PaladinTank, healer, melee★★☆★★☆★★★Very sturdy and versatile, can heal themselves.
HunterRanged★★★★★☆★★☆Beginner-friendly: your pet tanks for you.
RogueMelee★★☆★★★★★☆King of world PvP and duels, with stealth and crowd control.
PriestHealer, ranged★★☆★★★★★★Welcome everywhere as a healer, very strong in duels as Shadow.
ShamanHealer, melee, ranged★★☆★★☆★★★Totems support the whole group, very flexible.
MageRanged★★☆★★★★★☆Lots of damage, portals, food and water for everyone.
WarlockRanged★★★★★★★★☆Demons and damage over time, a very relaxed leveler.
DruidTank, healer, melee, ranged★★☆★★☆★★★Can do everything, a shapeshifter for every situation.

★★★ = very good. This is our own assessment, not Blizzard's. Play whatever you enjoy most.

The right gear for your class at level 30 is in our BiS lists.

Leveling as Horde

The route from 20 to 30

The classic Horde route, great for duos and small groups. Blizzard has reworked some zones in Forever, so level ranges may differ slightly. The dungeon atlas shows which dungeons fit your level.

  1. Lvl 20–22
    The Barrens & Stonetalon Mountains

Finish your open quests in the Barrens, then continue from Thunder Bluff.

  2. Lvl 22–25
    Ashenvale

Lots of quests around Splintertree Post. Contested territory, so expect PvP with the Alliance.

  3. Lvl 24–27
    Blackfathom Deeps (dungeon)

Located right in Ashenvale, lots of quests and good loot.

  4. Lvl 25–28
    Hillsbrad Foothills

Your base is Tarren Mill. Human enemies there drop plenty of Silk Cloth.

  5. Lvl 26–31
    Excavation Site: Wetlands (new)

New Forever dungeon with a Horde quest chain, including “Earthen Echo”.

  6. Lvl 27–30
    Thousand Needles

Freewind Post, plus the quest “Alien Egg” in the wyvern nests.
