WoW Forever Rulesets and Names

The Rulesets

Applies to All Rulesets

• Each ruleset is one big shared world instead of many separate servers. official
• Groups, dungeons, raids, mail and guilds only work within the same ruleset. official
• Horde and Alliance cannot group together. official
• Battlegrounds can bring together players from different rulesets, except Hardcore. official
• Collections and points from the Legacy System are account-wide. official
• Switching rulesets isn't possible; you need a new character. official

Preferred Language

Under the language and social options you set your preferred online language. The setting is account-wide and can only be changed once every 24 hours. It mainly matches you with players who speak the same language. official

Two-Part Names

• Every character has a first and a last name. official
• The full name is unique per region, across all rulesets. official
• You can hide the last name on nameplates; it stays visible in chat. official
• 2 to 12 characters per name part, no hyphens or apostrophes. per fan sites

Name Reservation

• Period: Oct 27, 2026 to Nov 3, 2026. official
• In Korea and Taiwan the period is Oct 28, 2026 to Nov 4, 2026 local time. official
• Only with one of the upgrade packs (Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher), for up to three characters. official
• Blizzard hasn't announced the start time of the reservation yet. We'll add it here as soon as it's known. unconfirmed
• After that, WoW Forever launches on Nov 4 at 3:00 pm PST (Nov 5, 2026, midnight CET). official
