Pick Pocket in WoW Forever: Rogue Guide
Everything you need to know about Pick Pocket in WoW Forever: how it works, which mobs are worth it, which junkboxes drop at which level and how to make gold on the side. Mechanics and tips are based on WoW Classic; we collect Forever finds ourselves with our addons.
- Learnable: level 4+
- Junkboxes: 4
- Loot table: Separate from normal loot
In short
- You learn Pick Pocket at level 4 from the Rogue trainer.
- You pick a mob's pocket in Stealth before you attack it or sneak past.
- The loot comes from its own table: coins, vendor trash and junkboxes. You still get the normal loot when you kill it.
- You open junkboxes with Lockpicking, so you level both skills on the side.
How Pick Pocket works
- Enter Stealth and sneak up close to the mob. You need to be right behind or next to it.
- Use Pick Pocket. If it succeeds, a loot window opens with the contents of its pockets.
- If it fails, the mob usually notices you. Make sure you can fight or get away afterward.
- Each mob can only be pickpocketed once. Its pockets refill only after a while.
- Use Distract to distract an enemy so it turns its back on you.
- You can mainly pickpocket humanoids. Some other mobs have pockets too; beasts usually don't.
Separate loot table, apart from normal loot
- Pick Pocket rolls on the enemy's own table. Items and chances differ from the loot it drops on death.
- Typical finds are coins, gray vendor trash and junkboxes. The boxes themselves have their own contents.
- That's why Eternadex lists Pick Pocket and box contents as separate sections and never mixes them with normal loot.
Junkboxes by level
The higher the mob's level, the better the box. These four junkboxes are in the game data:
| Box | Lock | Enemies |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | from about level 20 | |
| 70 | from about level 30 | |
| 175 | from about level 40 | |
| 250 | from about level 50 |
Enemies column: a rough guide based on the box's item level and WoW Classic experience. We'll pin down the actual level ranges in Forever with our addon data. Lock column: required skill as in Classic. unconfirmed
Which enemies are worth it
- Humanoid camps with lots of mobs packed close together: bandits, pirates, cultists, guards. You can empty a lot of pockets there in no time.
- Mobs at or slightly above your level carry the matching junkboxes. Much lower mobs mostly just give pocket change.
- Elite mobs and dungeon mobs have pockets too. In a group, you can pick them before the pull while the group waits.
- As soon as we have enough data, we'll show which mobs carry which boxes in Forever on each mob's page in the Enemy database.
Gold with Pick Pocket
- Pick the pockets of every suitable mob before you attack. It only takes seconds and gets you extra coins.
- Sell gray vendor trash from pockets to a vendor, and open the junkboxes yourself.
- Whatever's left after opening goes to a vendor or the Auction House, depending on its value.
- How much gold per hour you can make depends on zone, level and server. We'll give solid numbers for Forever once we have enough addon data.

Get involved: collect data with the addon
- While you play, our addons anonymously record what the game client shows, including during Pick Pocket: attempts, finds and coins per mob, kept separate from normal loot.
- When you open a junkbox, its contents are recorded as a separate section too.
- Upload your file: Contribute data. You'll find which addons collect data under Addons.
- Your contributions feed the Pick Pocket sections on the enemy pages and the box contents on the box pages. We only show percentages from 20 attempts.

FAQ
At what level do you get Pick Pocket?
Pick Pocket is available at level 4 from the Rogue trainer, per the beta data.
Which enemies can I pick pocket?
Mainly humanoids like bandits, pirates, cultists and soldiers. Some other mobs have pockets too, but most beasts don't. Each mob can only be pickpocketed once until its pockets refill.
Do I lose loot if I pickpocket a mob first?
No. Pick Pocket rolls on the enemy's own separate loot table. Your normal loot from the kill isn't affected.
Is Pick Pocket worth it for gold?
As a side income, almost always: coins, vendor trash and junkboxes only cost you a few seconds per mob. We'll give gold-per-hour figures for Forever once we have enough addon data.
What's inside a junkbox?
In WoW Classic, mostly coins, vendor trash, consumables and the occasional piece of gear. We'll show what the boxes contain in Forever on the box pages as soon as we have addon data for it.
As of Oct 14, 2026. Mechanics and locations are based on WoW Classic, which WoW Forever is built on. We'll add anything that's different in Forever as soon as it's confirmed or shows up in our addon data.
