"Retrieving character list"

Blizzard confirmed getting stuck on "Retrieving character list" as a known issue during the beta. In our assessment, when servers are busy it can help to go back to the menu, wait a moment and reconnect.

General steps

In general, it often helps to restart the game and the Battle.net app, update your graphics drivers (Blizzard recommends this) and run "Scan and Repair" in the app. If that doesn't help, contact Blizzard Customer Support.
