Name rules in WoW Forever

• Every character has a first and a last name. official
• The full name is unique per region, across all rulesets. official
• You can hide the last name on nameplates; it stays visible in chat. official
• 2 to 12 characters per name part, no hyphens or apostrophes. per fan sites
• Letters only: no digits and no spaces within a name part.
• Whether accented letters or umlauts are allowed is not yet confirmed. That's why the generator only uses A to Z. unconfirmed

Name Reservation

• Period: Oct 27, 2026 to Nov 3, 2026. official
• In Korea and Taiwan the period is Oct 28, 2026 to Nov 4, 2026 local time. official
• Only with one of the upgrade packs (Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher), for up to three characters. official
• Blizzard hasn't announced the start time of the reservation yet. We'll add it here as soon as it's known. unconfirmed
• After that, WoW Forever launches on Nov 4 at 3:00 pm PST (Nov 5, 2026, midnight CET). official

Tips for a good name

• Say the name out loud: other players should be able to read, type and say it, for example to whisper you or invite you to a group.
• Read the first and last name together. Chat always shows the full name; you can only hide the last name on nameplates.
• Choose a sound that suits your race. All races at a glance: Races and Classes.
• On the roleplaying ruleset, your name should fit the game world. The rulesets compared: Rulesets and Names.
• Keep three to five backup names in your favorites. Since the full name is what counts, a different last name is often enough.
