Making Gold by Level in WoW Forever

Overview

We calculate zones and their level ranges from all quests in a zone (middle 60% of quest levels). Gold rewards are counted from our quest database; quests without a recorded gold reward are missing from the total. A zone can appear in more than one level bracket.

Level 1–10

• Zones: Elwynn Forest 4–10, Teldrassil 5–11, Durotar 5–12, Tirisfal Glades 5–12, Mulgore 5–12, Zephras Isle 6–12, Dun Morogh 6–21
• Quests with a gold reward: 165 of 963, 32534 in total, median 175.
• Highest gold reward: Deliver Thomas' Report (7).

Level 11–20

• Zones: Dun Morogh 6–21, Westfall 12–18, Silverpine Forest 12–20, Darkshore 13–20, Loch Modan 14–20, The Barrens 14–24, Redridge Mountains 15–25
• Quests with a gold reward: 188 of 675, 143795 in total, median 7.
• Highest gold reward: Freed from Captivity (25).

Level 21–30

• Zones: The Barrens 14–24, Redridge Mountains 15–25, Stonetalon Mountains 20–27, Ashenvale 22–30, Duskwood 24–30, Wetlands 24–31, Hillsbrad Foothills 26–36
• Quests with a gold reward: 163 of 554, 375575 in total, median 20.
• Highest gold reward: Villainy in Blackfathom (65).

Level 31–40

• Zones: Hillsbrad Foothills 26–36, Thousand Needles 29–41, Desolace 33–40, Alterac Mountains 34–40, Dustwallow Marsh 35–43, Swamp of Sorrows 35–45, Arathi Highlands 36–40, Stranglethorn Vale 37–52

Cloth and Leather at the Vendor

You pick up cloth and leather constantly while leveling. Here is what a vendor pays according to the game data, as a floor for your selling price:

• Cloth drops mainly from humanoid mobs, and you get leather from beasts with Skinning. Higher-level goods usually come from higher-level mobs. from Classic
• On the Auction House, cloth and leather usually go for several times their vendor price, because tailors, leatherworkers and First Aid need them. from Classic

Tips by Level

• Levels 1 to 20: vendor your gray loot, collect cloth and leather, and only train the spells you actually use. from Classic
• From level 20: gathering professions pay more, because higher-level ore, herbs and leather are in greater demand. from Classic
• From level 40: quests pay more gold, and dungeons drop bind-on-equip items for the Auction House. from Classic
• At level 60, many quests reward extra gold instead of experience. from Classic
