Recipes with Vendor Profit

How we calculate it: the vendor price of the result (times the number made per craft) minus what the mats themselves would sell for at a vendor. A positive profit means crafting and vendoring earns more than vendoring the mats directly.

122 of 251 recipes with a vendor price turn a profit, 129 don't. If you buy mats from a vendor or the Auction House, you pay more than their vendor price. So the profit shown is a floor for vendoring, not an Auction House price.

Which Leatherworking recipe makes the most at a vendor?

According to the beta game data, Bramblewood Helm has the highest vendor profit: 2g 91s 90c vendor price against 90s in mats, so 2g 1s 90c profit per craft (from skill 300).

Is Leatherworking worth it for making gold?

In Classic, crafting professions earned most of their gold on the Auction House and through orders from other players rather than from vendors. According to the game data, 122 of 251 recipes with a vendor price sell for more than their mats. What sells well on the Auction House in WoW Forever will only become clear after launch.

Should I sell the mats or craft first?

Do the math before you craft: if the mats are worth more on the Auction House than the finished item, sell the mats instead. Our table only compares vendor prices, so check Auction House prices yourself.
