What dual spec means
- With Dual Specialization your character keeps two talent builds, for example one for questing and one for healing or tanking in dungeons.
- Blizzard has not described how switching works in WoW Forever yet (spell, window, cooldown). unconfirmed
- The game client contains the spells “Learn a Second Talent Specialization” and “Activate Primary/Secondary Spec”, without level or price data. That says nothing yet about how Forever implements it.
When: level 40
- Talents start at level 10. official
- Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40, Blizzard says. Until then you have one build and change it at your class trainer (see below). official
- Blizzard gives the level as of the beta; class abilities and talents may still change, Blizzard says. official
Cost and unlock: not announced
- Blizzard has not said what Dual Specialization costs, neither in the Class Deep Dives nor in the beta notes (as of Oct 20, 2026). unconfirmed
- Where you unlock it is not stated either. unconfirmed
- Prices from earlier WoW versions do not automatically apply to Forever. We will add cost and location after launch on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 (3 p.m. PST) once we see them in game.
Changing your talents (respec)
- You change individual talents at a class trainer in one of the major cities, Blizzard says, and that includes Legacy talents. official
- In the beta a reset cost 1 silver if you had not changed talents recently; right after a reset it was much higher, Blizzard says, and dropped back to 1 silver after one hour. Blizzard says this applies to the beta only. official
- The launch price has not been announced. unconfirmed
- Legacy Points followed the same beta rule (cheapest tier 1 silver, one tier cheaper per hour), also beta only. official
- Plan your build in the Talent Calculator first (51 points, 3 trees), then you only place points at the trainer.
What the beta showed
- The beta started with a level cap of 20, raised to 30 on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Dual spec at level 40 could therefore not be tested. official
- The beta notes of Thursday, October 15, 2026 (PDT) list a fix: Rogues “could swap specializations to keep their energy full”. Whether that refers to Dual Specialization, Blizzard does not say. official
