Razorfen DownsClassic dungeon
Dungeon for level 37–46 (per Classic) · The Barrens
The quilboar of Razorfen have joined the Scourge: the lich Amnennar the Coldbringer rules the Downs, while necromancers and undead fill the thorny caves.
Player shorthand: RFD
Razorfen Downs
In the far south of the Barrens, just before the crossing into Thousand Needles, lies a thicket of thorns where the quilboar have allied themselves with the Scourge. Per the quest texts, the lich Amnennar the Coldbringer rules the boars there. The dungeon is meant for groups whose characters are in their late 30s to early 40s. Our page shows a guideline of level 37 to 46; that is the Classic value. The quests for the dungeon are level 35 to 42 in our data. There is no official level for WoW Forever.
Approach
The entrance is easy to recognise: it looks like the maw of a giant boar. Myriam Moonsinger stands right in front of it (The Barrens 49 / 94.9). Horde players are at home in the Barrens and travel south through the zone. For the Alliance the way is longer. Which flight paths and routes exist in Forever is not documented, so allow some time for the trip. If you are still looking for players, the group finder helps: "Razorfen Downs" is in its dungeon list.
Quests before and in the dungeon
In front of the entrance, Myriam Moonsinger gives "A Host of Evil" (both factions, level 35). For it you defeat eight each of Razorfen Battleguard, Razorfen Thornweaver and Death's Head Cultist, which roam in front of the dungeon. That is easy to do while the group gathers.
For the Horde, Andrew Brownell in the Undercity gives "Bring the End" (level 42); for the Alliance, Archbishop Benedictus in Stormwind City gives "Bring the Light" (level 42). Both demand the death of Amnennar the Coldbringer, the Horde version additionally the Skull of the Coldbringer. As a reward, per our data, you choose between Vanquisher's Sword and Amberglow Talisman.
The Horde can also accept "An Unholy Alliance" from Varimathras in the Undercity. The start of this chain is a Small Scroll that Charlga Razorflank carries in Razorfen Kraul. Per the quest text, Ambassador Malcin stays outside the Downs, so outside the dungeon. Rewards are Skullbreaker, Nail Spitter, Zealot's Robe or a chest piece called "Cultist's Chestguard" in our quest data (new Forever ID 270054; no client name in our data).
Inside the dungeon waits Belnistrasz, a prisoner whom you free. First comes "Scourge of the Downs": you hand back the Oathstone he gave you. Then follows "Disabling the Idol" (both factions, from level 32). Belnistrasz wants to disable an idol near the entrance that the quilboar use as a macabre oven. You escort him there and protect him while he performs the ritual. He cannot defend himself during that time. If he dies, the quest fails. The reward is the Dragonclaw Ring.
Bosses
Tuten'kash is the first entry in the client's boss list. Our data has his spell "Curse of Tuten'kash": enemies nearby cast 15 % slower and the time between their attacks rises by 18 %, for 15 minutes. That hits melee and casters alike. Whoever can remove curses should try. Whether the curse can be removed in Forever is not in our data. As in Classic, Tuten'kash is summoned with a gong; not confirmed for Forever.
Plaguemaw the Rotting and Ragglesnout are encounters of their own in the client. In Classic both were rare enemies that did not show up on every run. Whether that is still so in Forever is open. We have found no spells carrying their names. Treat them as strong single enemies: the tank holds them, the group stands behind them.
Mordresh Fire Eye has the spell "Mordresh's Shield" in our data, which per its description makes him immune to all attacks and spells (60 seconds). When he uses it is not in our data. If you see the shield, save your cooldowns until it is gone. As in Classic, Mordresh casts fire spells, including around himself; melee should watch their health. Not confirmed for Forever.
Glutton is a heavy melee enemy. No spells with his name are in our data. Save big cooldowns for the end of the fight. As in Classic he becomes more dangerous at low health; not confirmed for Forever.
Amnennar the Coldbringer is the final boss and the target of the two level-42 quests. Per the game data, his spell "Amnennar's Wrath" knocks one enemy back. The tank therefore stands with his back to a wall so he does not fly into more enemies. As in Classic, Amnennar uses frost spells that root the group and calls in helpers as his health drops; not confirmed for Forever. The damage should then switch to the helpers while the tank holds the lich.
Loot by role
What the bosses drop in Forever is not documented in our data yet, and Blizzard has reworked the loot of the old dungeons. Only the quest rewards are certain. For stats, only the tooltips in game will tell, because we have no Forever values for most of these items. - Melee: Vanquisher's Sword (one-handed sword, Amnennar quests), for the Horde Skullbreaker (mace). - Ranged: Nail Spitter (gun, Horde). - Casters and healers: Zealot's Robe (cloth, Horde). - All roles: Amberglow Talisman (neck) and Dragonclaw Ring (ring). Their Forever stats are shown by the tooltip.
Tips by role
Tank: The corridors are narrow and full of quilboar and undead. Pull enemy groups around corners so that casters have to come to you. At Amnennar, stand with your back to the wall.
Healer: The Curse of Tuten'kash slows you down. Expect longer cast times in that fight. During the idol event you must keep an eye on Belnistrasz; he does not defend himself.
Damage: Do not hit into Mordresh's shield; at Amnennar, switch to his helpers quickly. Crowd control (sheep, traps, fear) saves a lot of time in the corridors.
Group: Tank, healer and three damage dealers. Whoever can remove curses is useful here. Pick up all quests beforehand, because the Undercity and Stormwind City are far away.
Access, keys and attunement
Belnistrasz inside Razorfen Downs starts “Extinguishing the Idol”: you defend him while he extinguishes the idol, which opens the way to the lower part. (Disabling the Idol)
