Razorfen Kraul

Dungeon for level 29–38 (per Classic) · minimum level 24 per game data · The Barrens

Player shorthand: RFK

A maze of thorny vines in the Barrens for levels 29–38.

Razorfen Kraul: the thorny maze of the quilboar

Razorfen Kraul is a quilboar warren built from giant thorny vines. The paths wind, many groups stand close together, and several casters heal their allies. Our dungeon database lists it for level 29 to 38. That range comes from beta data and is not confirmed by Blizzard.

Getting there. The entrance lies in the far south of The Barrens, right on the border to Thousand Needles. Per the game data, the instance's return point is at about 42.3, 89.9 on The Barrens map. The Horde gets there quickly from Thunder Bluff. Alliance players come via Ratchet or from Thalanaar in Feralas.

Quests before the run. - Both factions: "Blueleaf Tubers" from Mebok Mizzyrix in Ratchet. You take a Crate With Holes, a Snufflenose Command Stick and the Snufflenose Owner's Manual with you. In the Kraul you summon a snufflenose gopher with the crate and let it search for tubers with the command stick. Mebok wants six Blueleaf Tubers and his equipment back. - Alliance: "The Crone of the Kraul" from Falfindel Waywarder in Thalanaar. You bring him Razorflank's Medallion; per our loot database it drops from the final boss. Before that comes "Lonebrow's Journal": you read the journal of the dwarf Henrig Lonebrow. Per our quest data it lies at Thousand Needles 30.7, 24.3, so before the dungeon. - Horde: "A Vengeful Fate" from Auld Stonespire in Thunder Bluff asks for Razorflank's Heart. "Going, Going, Guano!" from Master Apothecary Faranell in Undercity needs a pile of Kraul Guano from the Kraul bats in the dungeon.

Quests inside the dungeon. Willix the Importer sits captive in the Kraul. In "Willix the Importer" you lead him out, which works for both factions. Alliance players also find the dying Heralath Fallowbrook. His quest "Mortality Wanes" asks for Treshala's Pendant, which you return to Treshala Fallowbrook in Darnassus. Per our database several enemies carry it, among them Roogug, Overlord Ramtusk and Charlga. For the Horde, Charlga also drops a Small Scroll. It starts "An Unholy Alliance" with Varimathras in Undercity. The target of the follow-up quest, Ambassador Malcin, waits outside Razorfen Downs per the quest text, not in the Kraul.

In Forever, according to Blizzard, dungeon enemies give about 20 % more experience, dungeon quests 50 % less bonus XP. Take the quests along anyway; a run with a full quest log saves the second one.

Bosses. The tactics follow the Classic state. They are not confirmed in WoW Forever.

Roogug waits as the first boss near the start. He is a quilboar caster and gets help from the earth. Summoned helpers and totems go first, and you interrupt his casts whenever you can. In Forever he has his own new loot per the game data.

Aggem Thorncurse heals himself and calls boars for help. Keep an interrupter ready for his heals and let the tank bind the boars to himself at once. Damage goes on Aggem so the fight does not drag on.

Death Speaker Jargba takes over a player with Mind Control and throws Shadow Bolts. Dispel the mind control immediately, or briefly disable the affected player so he does no harm to anyone. The healer stands so that he is not taken over first.

Overlord Ramtusk fights with his guards, uses Thunderclap and buffs himself with Battle Shout. Deal with the guards first and then tank him with his back to the group. Melee players expect the area damage of the Thunderclap.

Agathelos the Raging is a giant boar surrounded by many more. Clear the surroundings piece by piece before you attack him. He knocks players back and goes into a Frenzy. The tank therefore stands with his back to a wall so he does not fly into new groups of enemies.

Charlga Razorflank, the crone of the Kraul, casts Chain Bolt and heals herself and her companions. Interrupt her heals and stand spread out so the bolt does not jump from player to player. Control her companions or kill them first.

Blind Hunter and Earthcaller Halmgar are rare extra enemies who do not appear in every run. Halmgar summons an earth elemental that you control or fight quickly.

Loot by role (assignment per our loot database, stats not checked in Forever): - Tank: Heart of Agamaggan (shield), Tusken Helm (head, mail), Quillord Mail Leggings (legs, mail, new in Forever, name so far only from addon data), from trash Pugilist Bracers. - Healers and casters: Death Speaker Robes, Death Speaker Mantle and Death Speaker Scepter from Jargba, Batwing Mantle from the Blind Hunter, Wind Spirit Staff from Halmgar, from trash Staff of the Shade. - Melee: Corpsemaker (two-hand axe), Pronged Reaver (axe), Swinetusk Shank and Thornspike (daggers), Ferine Leggings (leather), Agamaggan's Clutch (ring), from trash Vendetta, Wolfclaw Gloves and Mantle of Thieves. - Ranged: Nightstalker Bow from the Blind Hunter. - Professions: Plans: Crusader's Silvered Chain Leggings and Plans: Acolyte's Silvered Chain Leggings (Blacksmithing), Pattern: Brawler's Leather Legguards and Pattern: Trapper's Leather Legguards (Leatherworking), Blueprint: Arcane Salvager (for a camp, per its description).

Tips for the roles. Tank: The quilboar groups are dense. Pull them around corners to you so the casters come closer, and mark healers as first targets. Healer: At Jargba you must not be taken over, at Charlga you stand spread out. Damage: Interrupting matters more here than the highest number. Enemy casters and healers always go first.

Group. Tank, healer and three damage dealers are ideal, with at least two interrupters and someone who can dispel Mind Control.
