Before the run
The Excavation Site is in the Wetlands above Whelgar's Excavation Site. The Alliance picks up its quests mainly in the Wetlands and Redridge Mountains, the Horde in Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff and the Wetlands. Take every quest with you and one run is usually enough.
Group
Beta status (October 2026): tank, healer and three DPS. Tremor Totem or Fear Ward on the tank helps against Shadetooth's fear. Stuns and slows are useful on the final boss.
Route
First comes Saltspine at the crocolisk lake, then Shadetooth on the raptor path. Next is a mob that only the Alliance needs for a quest and that drops no loot, and finally Relic Guardian, whom you activate at the titan control console next to him. Hidden packs lurk in the tall grass.

Bosses, tactics and loot
SaltspineLevel 28
Tactics: The crocolisk patrols the lake. Its Dust Storm massively reduces the tank's threat generation, and it also hits its target with Fatal Bite and Tendon Rip. Never pull it with other mobs, and DPS should hold back briefly after a Dust Storm until the tank has re-established threat.

ShadetoothLevel 29
Tactics: The raptor comes with two Thicket Hunters and fears players with Terrifying Roar – often straight into hidden packs in the tall grass. It puts a strong Rend on the tank and enrages at 20% health. Use Tremor Totem or Fear Ward, or clear the grass first, and save defensive cooldowns for the last 20%.

Highland Horror
Tactics: He casts Entangling Roots and Wild Regeneration. Don't pull the slimes near him; kill him fast and grab the quest item. He drops no loot.

Relic GuardianLevel 31
Tactics: You activate him at the titan control console next to him. He's a higher level, so your attacks miss more often and threat is shaky. Thunderclap slows the attack speed of everyone nearby, Arcing Smash hits everything in front of him, Knock Away reduces threat on his target, and War Stomp knocks back and stuns nearby players. Face him away from the group; ranged stay at range. He can be stunned and slowed – in an emergency, a Hunter with Concussive Shot or a Shaman with Earthbind Totem can keep him at bay.
