Ragefire Chasm
Dungeon for level 13–18 (per Classic) · minimum level 13 per game data · Cleft of Shadow, Orgrimmar
Player shorthand: RFC
The Horde's first dungeon is right inside Orgrimmar, with the entrance in the Cleft of Shadow. For levels 13–18, ideal for a quick first run.
Ragefire Chasm: the Horde's first dungeon
For many Horde players Ragefire Chasm is the very first dungeon. It sits directly beneath Orgrimmar, so the trip is short. In the English client the Group Finder list uses the same name as the map; German players will find it listed as "Flammenschlund" there, which is the same dungeon under a second client name. According to the fan addon data it is meant for levels 13 to 18, with all bosses at level 16. New in WoW Forever: according to Blizzard the loot of the old dungeons has been reworked, and dungeon enemies give around 20 % more experience. In return, dungeon quests give 50 % less bonus XP, and the penalty for low-level enemies now depends on your own level only.
Approach
The entrance is in the Cleft of Shadow, the sunken quarter of Orgrimmar. By our own conversion of the game data the portal sits at roughly 53 / 49 on the city map. If you come from Thunder Bluff or Undercity, pick up the quests there first and then travel to Orgrimmar.
Quests before and inside the dungeon
Plan a few detours for a full run, because the quest givers sit in three capitals. All quests are Horde only.
- Testing an Enemy's Strength (Rahauro, Thunder Bluff): kill 8 Ragefire Troggs and 8 Ragefire Shaman. You meet the troggs right at the start.
- Searching for the Lost Satchel (Rahauro, Thunder Bluff): Maur Grimtotem's corpse lies inside the dungeon. Search it. That starts the follow-up Recovering the Lost Satchel, which you hand in to Rahauro. The reward choice is Featherbead Bracers, Savannah Bracers or Garrison Cuffs (addon name).
- Hidden Enemies (Thrall, Orgrimmar): Bazzalan and Jergosh the Invoker have to die. The quest belongs to a longer chain; the earlier steps must already be done.
- Slaying the Beast (Neeru Fireblade, Orgrimmar): kill Taragaman the Hungerer and bring back his heart.
- The Power to Destroy... (Varimathras, Undercity): bring back the books Spells of Shadow and Incantations from the Nether. Per the quest text, members of the Searing Blade hold these books, meaning the cultists in the dungeon. As a reward you choose between Ghastly Trousers, Dredgemire Leggings and Gargoyle Leggings.
The bosses
Oggleflint. The trogg leader stands in the first cave section, surrounded by many troggs. Our data has no ability we can assign to him with certainty. As in Classic he counts as an easy fight (not confirmed for Forever). Pull the troggs away in small groups first, then the boss stands alone. While you are at it, count troggs and shaman for Rahauro.
Taragaman the Hungerer. The demon casts Uppercut, which deals damage and knocks the target back. On top of that comes Fire Nova, which hits everything near him. The tank is best off with their back to a wall so the knockback does not throw them into other enemies. Ranged players and the healer keep their distance. Melee players watch their health. After the fight, take the heart for Neeru Fireblade.
Jergosh the Invoker. The warlock puts Curse of Weakness on enemies, which lowers their physical damage, and Immolate, which deals Fire damage over time. Interrupt his casts as often as you can. Anyone who can remove curses clears the curse from the tank and the melee players first. He is one of the two targets for "Hidden Enemies".
Bazzalan. The satyr fights in melee. Our data assigns no spell to him with certainty. As in Classic he is said to attack with quick, poisonous strikes (not confirmed for Forever). An antidote or a class ability against poison takes pressure off the healer. Let the tank build threat solidly, then the fight is calm.
Notable loot by role
We do not have stats for the boss loot yet, so we list only slot and armor type, not which piece is stronger.
- Cloth (Priest, Mage, Warlock): Robe of Evocation (chest) from Jergosh. Crystalline Cuffs (wrist) and Subterranean Cape (back) from Taragaman. Satyrskin Cloak (back) from Bazzalan.
- Leather: Chasm Walkers (feet) from Bazzalan.
- Mail: Cavedweller Bracers (wrist) from Jergosh.
- Weapons: Cursed Felblade (sword) from Taragaman. Chanting Blade (dagger) from Jergosh. Trogg Scepter (mace), Bone Knuckles (fist weapon) and Barbaric Crossbow (crossbow) from Oggleflint. Searing Dagger (dagger) from Bazzalan.
- Professions: several Blacksmithing plans (from skill 80), for example Plans: Guard's Gloves. Leatherworking patterns (from 75), for example Pattern: Wisdom's Leather Gloves. Tailoring patterns (from 75), for example Pattern: Filigreed Flame Gown. These recipes carry new Forever IDs. Which boss drops them we know only from the fan addon.
Tips by role
Tank: pull groups one at a time and stay off the lava. At Taragaman stand with your back to a wall. At Jergosh turn him so your interrupters can reach him easily.
Healer: at Taragaman the melee players need the most healing because of Fire Nova. At Jergosh watch the Immolate. Anyone who can remove curses or poison saves you a lot of healing at Jergosh and Bazzalan.
Damage: interrupts matter most at Jergosh. Ranged players stand outside Fire Nova at Taragaman. If you carry the trogg and shaman quest, do not skip those enemies.
Group
The tried setup is one tank, one healer and three damage dealers. A class that removes curses helps. Pick up all five starting quests before the run if you can. Most of them finish in a single pass. The satchel from the dungeon adds the sixth quest.
